If you’re a fan of sun and swim, have Midsommar Swim bookmarked on your browser. Two years ago, the LA-based swim line was founded by Rachel Nosco, the chic California girl who’s also behind the personal style blog, Aesthetics Anonymous.  We chat with the entrepreneur on unwinding in nature and bringing fashion to the sea.

Tell us about yourself.

I am owner and designer of a small, Los Angeles-based swimwear line Midsommar Swim that I launched almost two years ago. I also recently started up my blog, Aesthetics Anonymous where I post my personal style shots as well as beauty and wellness content. I grew up in southern California, about 45 minutes north of LA, and while I lived in NYC for 5 years, I’m now back living in sunny California again!

Sharply cut suits that borrow elements from Rachel’s daywear are signatures of Midsommar Swim.

“I am from Southern California and grew up about 20 minutes from the beach, so swimwear has always been a love of mine. I also wanted to create something unusual and bring a bit of fashion to beach wear. Something to take you seamlessly from a day at the beach to a rooftop lounge for drinks!”

How did the idea for Midsommar Swim come about?

Fashion and creating things have always been a passion of mine, and I also am from Southern California and grew up about 20 minutes from the beach, so swimwear has always been a love of mine. I also wanted to create something unusual and bring a bit of fashion to beach wear. Something to take you seamlessly from a day at the beach to a rooftop lounge for drinks!

What inspires your work?

I get inspiration from so many places – nature, art, vintage pieces, and especially from the style and aesthetic of so many bloggers and style influencers I come across on social media. There are so many unique creatives out there that the inspiration is endless.

Do you have a morning ritual to give a good start to the day?

I work from home for the most part, so I definitely have a morning ritual there. After I wake up and feed my three cats, I make tea, light some candles – I’m a huge candle addict – and take care of emails and social media, etc.

We live on a hill and have a backyard so I often will take my computer or phone outside and do some work in the sun, which always makes me feel more inspired.

Hydration, anti-aging serums, and liberal amounts of SPF are key to preserving Rachel’s sunkissed skin.

“I love masks, hydration and anti-aging serums, moisturizers, eye creams- anything!  I used the [DAMDAM] Power Mask already and am obsessed! I also make sure to always use something with SPF in it during the day to prevent unnecessary discoloration and aging. I am a huge believer in health from the inside out, and I have been eating a strictly vegan diet for over two years which has transformed my skin, body, and hair in so many ways, and I’ve never felt better!”

Do you have a beauty ritual? If so, can you talk us through it?

I make sure to always stick to a regular skincare routine, I have an arsenal of various products that I rotate through from day to day. I love masks, hydration and anti-aging serums, moisturizers, eye creams- anything!  I used the Power Mask already and am obsessed!

I also make sure to always use something with SPF in it during the day to prevent unnecessary discoloration and aging. I am a huge believer in health from the inside out, and I have been eating a strictly vegan diet for over two years which has transformed my skin, body, and hair in so many ways, and I’ve never felt better!

What do you do on days when you need to unwind and unplug?

I love being outdoors, riding my horse and hiking in the hills or being near the ocean are some of my favorite things. Quality time with my closest friends is always a fun way to relax, whether it’s doing something outdoors, or chatting over a glass of one of our favorite wines.

When the view requires an equally statement-making wardrobe.

“I really loved Tulum, Mexico when I went a couple years ago. But my favorite place I’ve been is Mallorca, Spain – the landscape and beaches there are so beautiful!”
