Last week, we joined the Man/Woman shows for our second season and it was made all the more special for being held in our adopted home, Japan during Tokyo Fashion Week. Man/Woman founders Antoine and Olivier have long been devoted to creating a tight-knit community of entrepreneurs and creatives by curating a well-edited list of independent brands around the globe, each with its unique identity and determined purpose.
For us at DAMDAM, it was an honor to share the stage with like-minded founders and brands that value mindfulness and integrity like Veja (the ethical, transparent choice to a chic sneaker), Giu Giu (founded and created by our ethereal friend Giuliana), Bang & Olufsen (no introduction is necessary to this incredibly well-designed audio brand) as well as forging new friendships with cool labels like Diane’s DA/DA (the 1-letter difference to our brand names wasn’t lost on us!), Archives 18-20 (the chicly appointed Le Marais concept store in Paris), and the Hypebeast-approved DJ collective Yeti Out. Even more serendipitous was the venue of our show – the stylish Trunk Hotel, a part of the global group Design Hotels, which DAMDAM is a partner of. The bonds we formed with the people behind the labels and the energy behind the scenes were what made the entire experience indelible.
Here, snapshots stolen over the course of the packed two-day event which welcomed over 500 guests to the Harajuku hotspot. We are so grateful to everyone who came and supported us – from our friends in the press, the buyers, the retailers, to our customers. We are happy to be included in this cultivated community of magical beings, who help and believe in each other, and be a part of this special space carved within the wider industry. Merci, Antoine, Olivier, and the entire Man/Woman team!
